Annual skin care/pressure injury prevention class is two-hour mandatory class for clinical care partner (CCP). The class is designed to educate CCPs regarding current skin care and pressure injury prevention guidelines and standards. The ultimate goal is to improve patient care. It is a dynamic class that includes big and small group discussions and learning exercises.
Objectives:
Skin Care / Pressure Injury Prevention:
- Skin Care / Pressure Injury Prevention:
- Describe the role of clinical care partner (CCP) in promoting patient safety through pressure injury prevention / treatment
- Discuss the importance of pressure injury prevention in an acute care setting
- Incorporate evidence-based pressure injury prevention / treatment modalities in patient care
- Demonstrate basic ostomy care
Fall Prevention:
- The CPP will identify a patient fall risk in clinical practice
- The CPP will compare and contrast effective fall prevention vs ineffective measures
- The CPP will design a comprehensive patient fall prevention strategy during group discussion
